New to PMR ugh!

Hi all,

Newly diagnosed with PMR a few weeks ago. My first dose of prednisone started at 10mg. Less than a month on 9 mg now but after reading many posts from others I must settle down and calm myself. I am way out of my league here even though I do have a lengthy Med background..this disease is rough however it could be so much worse. Thank you for this forum. I am so appreciative of all of your experiences.

Hello Leilagirl and welcome to the forum. It is a supportive and knowledgeable place to help manage this disease. Bring all your queries and experiences, someone will always have advice or opinion or just a virtual hug for you.

How are you?

It strikes me that it hasn’t taken you long to get to 10 mgs from your start dose. I think it took me about a year to taper from 20 to 10 mgs

Hi Leilagirl

Welcome to the site but sort to hear that you have the dreaded PMR. You will get lots of support and good advice on the site and it makes the journey less scary and easier to manage. Plenty of rest in the early period & everyone says, do not rush the tapering. Mine was monthly and so far has worked well.

Happy Easter to you.

You started at 10mg? Did that take care of the pain? Or are you doing this and still in pain.? As much as you want to speed up this process... take it slow! Good luck.

Every day now it’s been 6 days in the am pain is increasing. I notice being slightly uncomfortable in the afternoons as well but not terrible. Your right. I need patience and not decrease dosage for month at a time minimum. Right? Thank you so!

My starting dose was 10mg and just beginning week 4. I find my neck and arms start aching badly towards the evenings.
