I buy my hemp oil as a food, not a medication. Can you get it that way? It tends to be available at places that sell holistic products, unlike a standard pharmacy or supermarket.
I just googled it Olive and got a lot of outlets selling it. My Psoriasis is flaring on my feet too. I use a moisturising cream - E45 and a mild cortisone cream that just keeps it under control.
The oil I had came from body shop formulated for skin , looked at capsules thinking if you can take purity should be ok. E45 doesn't work for me
I don't know what the small patches of rough skin are which I get occasionally, but food grade hemp oil helps greatly. I apply it to the affected skin. Also swallow a tbsp every day. Also a skin cream I get from the pharmacy which contains shea butter, which may be the active ingredient and can be purchased separately. Nothing else any good. Cortisone type creams clear it up but then it rebounds and spreads, so none of that any more!
Olive, look up Child’s Farm Baby Moisturising Cream. It’s had some excellent write-ups and when in Boots I overheard a Mum asking for it, saying it was the only thing that worked for her little girl’s eczema. It’s also available in non-baby form but perhaps the baby form would be more suitable for the face.
My daughter controls a her eczema with diet. When she follows a DAIRY free plant based diet her Eczema disappears.
As a very small baby my granddaughter had eczema which cleared with a non-dairy diet. Over time it seemed to go away and dairy was reintroduced but at about 7 or 8 she developed horrendous asthma which continued to deteriorate despite so-called management. She was in resus on a far too regular basis and school was almost impossible.
Two years ago, aged 16, she went veggie and 6 months later vegan. Since then the asthma is barely a problem. She no longer needs constant high dose pred to stay alive and the occasional puff on her inhalers is adequate. But she has lost a good 8 years of her childhood.
Awe this breaks my heart to see a child suffer so much. I’m so happy though she has figured this out.
I too have gone vegan. It’s been 2 months and feeling great. So far no flareups. On a rare occasion I enjoy a cappuccino with lactose free milk (almond does not cut it for me!) and I do feel a niggle in my gut. What I haven’t done is touched meat of any kind which I believe may have attributed to inflammation. I won’t know until I try it but honestly don’t miss it. I also dropped more weight which is always a good thing for joints and self esteem 😊.
There is a channel called ZLiving on TV (I have Verizon network) That has shows geared towards holistic living. There’s one shown particular called “Desperate for A cure). Most of the episodes are people suffering from autoimmune disease and how they reversed it with Diet and Holistic therapies. I don’t believe PMR initially could have been controlled by diet and holistic therapies but I do believe that along with proper medication and a plant-based diet recovery time may be shortened. I also believe that if I would’ve taken better care of myself, controlled stress, followed a plant-based non dairy diet I don’t think I would have developed PMR. Right after my beloved mother passed I developed Hashimoto’s. I also suffered with my gut since childhood. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.
Would love your opinion on this.
I'm not sure it can be shortened either - but diet CAN make a big difference to some people in managing it. I couldn't face 100% vegan - I can't eat wheat products and that makes basic vegan a bit boring and/or hard work. I also live in northern rural Italy where sourcing many things would costs a fortune and internet shopping isn't the norm with delivery being rather a pain! However - to make up for that I have easy access to grass-fed and GMO-free meat. I don't eat a lot of meat by anyone's standards and a litre of milk lasts the 2 of us 4 days.
I am frequently rather sceptical about the "I cured my a/i disorder" claims - all too often they have improved their diet from something abysmal in the first place! If people ate decent diets to start with they'd have fewer problem... I've lived with PMR pretty well for 14 years, the first 5 without pred. I think it was as much due to decent food as anything else. Though I wouldn't willingly give up my pred!
I’m also gluten free. Your right it’s tough, especially being of Italian heritage on both sides!. To live in rural Italy ahhh ...... xo
