A ball and a wall for your aches and pains.

In my yoga class I pass out lacrosse balls for this but you can use a tennis ball. It is GREAT for dealing with tapering prednisone pain, or any aches and pains for that matter. A free self massage. You just roll that ball between you and the wall. Get the periformis muscle in your hip/butt area too. I do this a few times a week and it is really helpful. When you hit a stringy feeling or a pain, just lean and rest against the ball for 30 seconds and begin rolling again! Try it you'll like it! There is a video on you tube that might explain it better. Go to you tube and type in massage with ball and wall. (my link isn't working.)

If you add piriformis to the search you find videos specifically for piriformis problems.

Ha - yes, I'll be managing that particular one!!! Luckily I'd never get down the in the first place - because I surely wouldn't manage to get back up without a crane!!!!

Yep,

I use a spikey exercise ball for lots of massage, and a wall for places I can’t reach!

I was doing that before diagnosis for the pain and helped quite a lot

Which does suggest part of your problems at least are due to spasmed muscles. Over and above the PMR.
