Looking Good 2nd Day

Well following a normal blood reading Doctor advised to start Pred at 15mg and she will review in a week. First day I took tablets at 6am with a live yoghurt. Noticed in the day shoulder pains had eased. In bed last night it was easier to move. I had son moments of hot sweats but slept well. This morning my second day I feel much better moving about! So I think the diagnosis that I have PMR is correct. In some ways I am pleased because my journey of suffering pain when moving about has been a long one with lots of diagnoses on what it was. Thank you for some very valuable advice on here.

Sounding Good Libs. Just One Tip - Take It Easy - don’t start trying to do ‘normal things’ or catch up, give the Pred chance to do its thing & you will benefit all the more.

Good Luck 🍀

Thanks! Yes I intend to take it easy, just need to remind partner of that too! Talks of long walks etc, I reminded him I am not cured, just coping with the pain and discomfort. But that to me is wonderful

Please keep up your exercise. A hike is probably not in order, but a nice longish walk if you enjoy that, with the opportunity for a break (walk to the local cafe then home?) would likely be very good for you. Pred can affect our muscles so we should all be advised to maintain as good a level of physical activity as is comfortable for us. Just make sure whatever you do you also schedule in an equal amount of recovery time, and don't start new arduous activities.

Many thanks, I will do

It is good when suddenly you find less pain and more movement. The people around probably notice it as much in the way we move. Regarding long walks. I think you are right to be a bit cautious, but a shorter, flatter walk may be doable. I choose ones with seats every so often, just getting out in the fresh air and keeping up what you can, without making yourself feel worse, will help you feel better.

Precious Princess time for you now..........................just go with the flow and do not fight it, pace yourself.

Try a warm shower when you get up as well..........don't bother with soap or hair either.

No more than 10 minutes without a rest and to help you Nordic Walking sticks.

I am so glad the pred worked for you. It was wonderful when I first took the pred, it worked for me in 15 hours 25 minutes and the magic happened. As the others say don’t assume you are now OK to carry on as normal, PMR is life changing, pred just covers up the pain.
