daworm, thanks for what seems to be a well-considered article.

It will be interesting to hear the opinions of the Aunties (experts) and others here about this report and its conclusions...

MB :-)

Not really a report - it is an information sheet and they offer a download version. It is a very useful link and I have bookmarked it but it doesn't add a lot to what we have been saying to people for the last 5 or 6 years on the forums. As DL says, it is a rare condition though perhaps not quite as rare as some doctors think! However, for most people reducing the way we suggest works and is what they also advocate.

Hi daworm,

As a “zero-ite’ I can certainly confirm that it can take up to a year for the adrenals to get working properly again. But you don’t have to be at zero to find that out as many of here would agree.

Personally I had the fatigue symptoms, but fortunately none of the others, and it started when I reached 6mg -(as you know the equivalent to natural production is around 7-8mg Pred). I continued reduction in 0.5mg steps and using my slow taper, and by the time I’d got down to 3mg my adrenals had sparked again.

This is another good reason for the slowly, slowly approach to tapering once a patient gets to single figures of Pred, you need to give the adrenal a fighting chance!

There are a few patients on here who have suffered from Secondary Adrenal Fatigue due to Pred, but they are few and far between.
