Stumbled upon this interesting article!

I was feeling bored in bed, just waiting for the sun to rise, and for no other particular reason Googled, 'The Truth About PMR' to see what popped up. This popped up, and I thought it quite inciteful and honest, and seemed to reflect many of our own experiences of this condition. It doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know but I found it an interesting read.

Thanks for this -

Yes it does repeat what most of us know, but always satisfying to be able to nod wisely and agree with comments. Just hope some of those on the other side of the table read it -and perhaps adjust their approach to patients 😉

An excellent article, which I suggest could have been written by many users of this Forum. Sadly it's only likely to be read by those those who know, understand and appreciate it, rather than those who need educating. Like the author I have suffered little, if any, side effects and have very positive totally supporting GP's.

It has been mentioned before - I glanced at it then but didn't read it properly.

I got a laugh - fancy having to live in the middle of the Atlantic ( ;) , yes, I know what he means but he didn't capitalise the mid- ). It nicely exposes the fallacy of starting low and creeping up the dose of pred. And shows the importance of having the right relationship with your doctor and one who doesn't work on the premise of one size fits all.

Mind you, given his age and the dose he needed - not entirely sure this is "just" PMR.

I did wonder when I posted it if someone might have picked it up and posted it before. It was the first time I'd seen it myself though.

Doesn't matter - things get "lost" very quickly in the forum anyway, repetition doesn't always hurt

Thanks Kendrew. Yes- as DL says, very satisfying to be able to connect with a similarly suffering soul (note my use of alliteration to highlight the sly, snakelike slither of PMR creeping up with its nasty surprise 😆).

Hi. Thanks for posting what is an interesting article. Like most of us, I could certainly identify with what is written. I am a lucky one - diagnosed by a GP, whose Mum had pmr, and finding this Forum (thanks to my daughter) on day one. Thus, I was well prepared, and gradually fairly well informed.

My GP left me to my own devices, but was very supportive and knowledgeable.

Yes...you're definitely one of the more fortunate ones in that respect. I'm fortunate too, in that I'm also allowed to manage my own taper and together with the reassurance, guidance and advice I always receive here, feel confident to do so. For thst, I'm very thankful.

Absolutely agree. Some of the recent posts we’ve seen have been mind blowing! It’s no wonder some people really struggle!
