Catch that bus

Today I saw my bus idling at the stop. Normally I'd speed up my pmr walk, from slow, to slightly less slow... I found I could actually run a little, for the first time in two years. I got the bus. Oh joy.

Careful now! 😏 but well done, a real sense of achievement.

Good job! I find the more I do the more I can do! Yesterday in NYC I walked 5.7 miles! Saturday 6 miles. Sunday on my bed in pj’s at 3:00 pm, sleep by 7:00 pm. Living alone, I can do whatever I want! Now I’m used to getting up between 3 and 4 for 5:00 am Pred. Have learned to enjoy the quiet, pensive time without the pressure of work. Life is one big adjustment!

Great achievement, may I ask what dose of Pred are you on? I think I could do more exercise but tend to worry that I might be overdoing it.

You take what you have and add a few mins/up the intensity a tiny bit. If it is OK next day that was fine, try it again (not on consecutive days though, always have a rest). Eventually you will do a day that was too much and you'll feel it. Go back to the previous level, stick there a month or two but keep exercising. Then, once you are in training, try the extra bit again. If it works - keep adding until it DOESN'T work. Rinse and repeat.

Just started 12 mg Pred on Sunday. Exercise works out the pains. Def rest in the afternoon.

GOOD ON YOU!!!!!

Can I ask what you mean by PMR walk - I only ask because I have a lot of trouble with my legs and I know I'm repeating myself here so apologies to others - what kind of symptoms do you call PMR walk - is it pain or general slowness? (I ask because my doctors tell me its nothing to do with my PMR). Thanks. Also - good for you on the run for the bus. Funny thats one thing I find I don't even try now for a long time - is to run for the bus.

Slowness caused by aching lower back which only started with pmr. I was walking like frankenstein for a while, but that has passed thankfully. We all seem to have varying symptoms. :-)

How would they know if isn't anything to do with PMR? Bet they haven't had it - and a lot of doctors say things are nothing to do with PMR when they blatantly ARE!!!!!

I did exactly the same thing yesterday!! Even as I was “running” I was thinking to myself “look at me like a normal person running 🏃‍♀️ for the bus!! ” 😁
