A bad nights sleep!

Well last night seemed like a bad night.

Went to bed at my normal time, watched a couple of YouTube videos as normal.

Turned my phone, but sleep refused to come, well that's what it felt like. Seemed that I was awake until about 2am, I'm sure I did sleep between 11pm and 2am, just felt like I was awake.

Well up at 4:45 as normal, tired, but the day gas to start.

First song on the radio, Monty Python and "Look on the bright side of life".

Well let's get that done :)

Have a great day folks and I'll be looking forward to a power nap later on this afternoon!

Hate those nights. I thought I must have slept when I had awake feeling but when I got my fitbit and was able to see sleep cycles in blue, dark blue, light blue and red for light, deep and REM sleep and periods of wakefulness respectively I found my instincts were right.

Hopefully you will get good kip tonight!! 💤💤💤💤

I'm sure I will sleep better, but I could sleep now for an hour or two, will have to try not to do that otherwise it will be another bad one.

Ahhhh, the sleepless nights! Ya gotta love them. When I have nights like that (and I haven't since the weighted blanket!) I don't fight it. I get up and write a blog or tap out a letter to a friend. I have found I'm much more creative in the middle of the night! Then, usually around 5-6, I go to sleep. Works for me... enjoy your nap!

That is a natural sleep rhythm and was the way people did things in the middle ages: bed as it got dark, slept until they woke, got up and did things, went back to bed and slept again.

When you take in the whole of human evolution we have been on western timeclocks for tiny amount of time.!!

Indeed, and maybe we should look at the way we work, think of the energy that could be saved by closing most of the colder months.

I'm sure that would go down like a lead balloon!

That would be nice, trouble is work gets in the way ;)

I haven't had a night that felt as bad as last night for a long time. I'm sure I slept more than I think, but when you feel like you haven't slept ...

I hate it when work gets in the way of life...

I'm not one for writing blogs, just write random stuff on here.

I couldn't go off around 6, up for work at 4:45!

Well tonight is a new night, I'm sure it will be different :)

Work? Wow! I'm impressed! I haven't worked or volunteered at the hospice since early December! I miss doing both. 😟 Maybe once we get my meds organised and I'm tapering down successfully. 🤞🏻

It's hard work.

Getting moving in the morning is a fight, climbing the stairs to the 2nd floor is exhausting, but I have to do it. Getting out of my lovely new chair is hard, well the walking for the first few steps.

If I give up, i could end up not doing anything and that isn't going to happen.

I started on 15mg, so a nice low dose, but I do suffer with fatigue and at the moment I'm also feeling cold, but mixing with people is so worth it.

I also write posts on here, they are all real, but I try not to be to serious, there is enough of that for us all, as there should be.

in reply toJulianJ

I'd love to be on 15 mg... the side effects of 80mg is debilitating. I am in no pain, or discomfort, but totally spaced out and super fatigued, but at the same time speeding my brains out and hanging from the ceiling! Go figure.

You'll come down of the ceiling, may take time, but you'll land back with us. I'm sure you've seen all the posts about not rushing, I was a sceptic, but not any more.

I'm heading to 7mg, I do have some discomfort, but not more than I had before. When I get down to 7, I'm going to stay there for a few weeks to stabilize.

Hi Julian, i have sleep...and sleep-less... nites. On the sleep-less nites , I get up, make a cup of warm milk or herb tea, and read my book, or browse the internet. Always know tomorrow’s night will be a good sleep!

Kind regards, Jerri

4 + years with PMR/prednisone, and I’m seeing light at the end of the tunnel. 🤪

I think I may try warm milk again, haven't done that for a while.

I tend to go to bed around 10pm, a bit of YouTube and then off to sleep. Normally a good one to get off to sleep, but there are times it doesn't seem to work.

I don't want tomorrow night to be a good sleep I want tonight's ;)

I hate those sleep-less nights! Laying there with eyes shut but wide awake!!

Sleep well tonight!

Thanks, I'm sure I'll get a good nights sleep.

I didn't look at the time until gone 2am, then I knew I'd been asleep, trouble is I then wake at 3 and then it's getting close to getting up time, well 4:45, but the brain tells me I may not wake!

No nap today, but still off to bed at 10 and a good nights sleep ahead :)

Hi Julian,l have been a poor sleeper for quite some time, it was a lot worse when l first had the preds,l was started on 30 mgs and the first week l was awake all night. I am down to 3mgs now but never sleep through the night. I try not to look at anything on the l pad or phone for at least an hour before bedtime as this seems too stimulate my brain and it,s hard to switch off all the things going on in my head .l wish you sweet dreams and plenty of really good nights sleep .

Well last night it was off to bed a little after 10pm after a mug of hot milk.

Phone on charge, glasses on the table and into bed.

I normally start on my back, move to my right and then over to my left and sleep.

Last night I started my routine, on my back for a few mins, next I know it's 11:30 and my legs are hurting, but the tiredness was gone. Soon back off to sleep until 1am, had to take the regulation walk then! Woke again at a little after 2 and again at 3 with another walk. 4am soon came about quickly followed by 4:45 and now the day starts.

So much better today, a "good" nights does wonders for us :)
