TheraPAQ for the PMR-y Days

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to share a great product I found to help when my shoulders are really sore. I have one for school and home. I leave it in the freezer. I place the cold pad around my neck for 20 mins, then pop it in the microwave for 2 mins and apply the hot pad for 20 mins. It gives me so much relief and feels great. The pad contours to my neck and shoulders because the pad if filled with tiny beads. I bought mine on Amazon.amazon.com/Neck-Shoulder-Re...

Here is a picture of me applying the pad when it is hot. I put it over my shawl because it was a bit too hot initially.

Thanks for the tip. I have a large size electric heating pad that I do much the same with. I stay away from cold except when my lower back hurts. Then a cold pack is quite effective. For my shoulders, my body seems to crave heat then some gentle exercises, then some more heat. The pad has a 2 hour shut off button. I sometimes use it when I first crawl into bed; sometimes I fall asleep with it on. Thank goodness for the auto off button.

Snap! Just the thought of a cold pack for PMR makes my muscles ache. Warm all the way for me too.

I’ve half a dozen Superdrug/Supersaver specials, under £3 IIRC. Usually it’s my shoulders that enjoy the heat, but sometimes hips and thighs. Can’t have too many 😉

ETA £3.49 each just checked, they’ve gone up!

Marie1479: Your post had me searching for heating pads. I'd like a second one. I saw several on the Bed Bath and Beyond website: One was advertised as being popular on wedding registries. I guess I lack imagination! I don't remember thinking that what my married needed was a good heating pad. Not back in the day anyway. :)

This looks good too.

Mine was from Walgreens. It's 12 by 22. I'd like it just a few inches larger in each dimension, but it heats up really fast and gets nice and warm.
