When I went for my flu jab on Saturday my GP, who is knowledgeable about PMR, said that I was eligible for the Shingles jab. When I asked about having this with Pred she said that as I am on 4mg this was regarded as safe. She said that under 10mg is regarded as OK, with only a 20% risk of cantracting shingles or chicken pox, and no patient on pred at the practice had caught it. She was also concerned that I am getting close to the 80 year old barrier (only 5 months to go!)
I took the chance.

Yes, when I used to give it (about 18m ago now) the policy for giving had a detailed section on dose levels of immunosuppressive drugs under which giving it was permissible. Being on Pred wasn't a complete no no.
Being on pred isn't a no-no - but one of the listed adverse events for the shingles jab is PMR! Nor can I see the point at nearly 80 - it works best in people in their late 50s and 60s and then the effect falls considerably.
