Muscle and tendon tears from steroids

Pro... we have touched on this before but it has finally happened. Along with my steroid myopathy I have torn the ligament on my knuckle and just recently two bad tears in my Knee meniscus. This is a catch 22. They cannot operate on the meniscus because I don't heal and exercise can cause other tears. So I am between a rock and a hard place. Will be seeing my doctor in about two weeks. will also have results of blood numbers this week. I have been reducing quickly as you may recall because of the myopathy perhaps we will come up with some solution. Have any opinions? I am The gal that moved from Florida to New Jersey to find a good rheumatologist in NY which I did. Thank you Marilyn

Sorry - really nothing to suggest except, since you are in the USA, perhaps Actemra may be an option to get you off the pred without symptoms returning. That would deal with both problems - and once you can exercise again the muscle bulk will return.

MD. Doesn't seem to want me on Actemra yet. I think it's the reaction he is concerned with. He did say if I relapsed we would talk about it. Since he was so involved with the trials he got to see a lot. I trust him. Got into the pool today and walked. Good so far. Also have a little more energy since coming down to 11 from 30. Knee is ok after the pool too. Maybe I'll get lucky. Thanks for your response. Marilyn
