PMRGCA Charity Week 19th-25th June

Hi everyone

Just to let you all know that I completed my 10 mile sponsored walk for PMRGCAuk this morning. The actual distance recorded on my phone was 10.8 miles, or 24,644 steps, the highest point ascended was 568 feet and it took me 3 hours and 9 minutes. Apparently I burned 604 calories, which I have spent this afternoon on a very large slice of chocolate cake at our neighbour's garden party. The walk was a personal challenge for me and I did feel every mile, particularly as my PMR and GCA were not in supporting mood today, as had kindly furnished me with a headache, backache and pain in my right leg....hey ho. However, my mind was soon diverted as the scenery in The New Forest was, as always, breathtaking and it was enjoyable and worthwhile with a great sense of achievement at the end. It is rare these days to feel that you have achieved anything, so it will definitely be a day to remember.

A glass of fizz this evening and off to the spa tomorrow with my aches and pains, so the perfect recipe for a quick recovery.

If anyone would like to make a donation, no matter how small, please go to the link below. Donations can be made up to 25th September, so plenty of time. In the meantime, a big thank you to everyone who has donated, you have been very generous and I am overwhelmed by your support.

Very well done!!! Like the sound of the cake and the glass of bubbly best though. Perhaps we could have a sponsored eat/drink - because I sure as eggs is eggs couldn't do that walk!!!!!

That's a brilliant idea...why don't we suggest it for next year's charity fund raising.

Best wishes Liz x

Wow! One thing to even consider embarking on this challenge let alone completing it whilst battling PMR and GCA. Even in remission, I couldn't even contemplate it, so I'm in awe at what you have achieved - very well done, Liz, and enjoy that very deserved spa day today.

Thank you so much. I feel remarkably OK today, so I am hoping it will stay that way with the help of some spa treatment. Take care. Liz x
