I was diagnosed in March with PMR and am on 12.5 pred. So far so good as no pain but desperately tired and 'thick' head. I I am due to go abroad on holiday this week will I be all right?

Yes, you should be, but you may need to pace yourself a bit more than normal. Don't try and rush about fitting in a lot of sightseeing, give yourself plenty of time to rest. Depending on where you're going, be careful of the sun, your skin is more likely to burn when on Pred.

Think about requesting assistance at the airport if you find walking very tiring, it's always further than you think.

Make sure you have a good supply of Pred, carrying all medication in hand luggage, also take copy of prescription.

Most of all, enjoy yourself and have a good rest!

Agree with Dorset Lady its good to book airport assistance - its free and easy to do and you get a wheelchair or transport to the plane. Its amazing how tiring it is walking round the airport and numerous stairs etc. On holiday I found I had to stop in cafe's more than usual and be wary of fit people saying " its only a 5 minute walk" when in fact its much more. Take care.

Yes - if anyone says "It's only ..." assume it is AT LEAST double that, possibly even more. And when they say it is flat - be sceptical about THAT too!

Hi Kathleen I was diagnosed in February and had a holiday in April abroad! All was good and the rest did me good actually! Have booked another 3 on the strength of it:)

Might want to think about a folding walking stick for balance and to remind others you don't move as quick as them,

I found Nordic Poles wonderful for helping the walking and climbing up to our cliff top house in Hydra. I felt more like a serious walker than disabled with a stick. Pace yourself and rest, duck out of things you're not up for. You'll be fine.

Enjoy - hope the weather is good!

Make sure you have loads of sunscreen - pred doesn't always improve sun-tanning ability!
