It is a steep learning curve. And so much of what we learn is how little research there has been. I am so grateful for the guidance here that helps with all the trial and error and helps me keep my expectations reasonable. I've been on Pred now for 4 months. Started at 15, bumped to 20, down to 14, then flared so back up to 20 for two weeks, and now starting down again, one mg a week down to 16mg "I hope!".

Now I wonder, will I hit another flare at 14? Should I stay at 15 for longer than two week this time? How can I avoid repeating flare history?

So much fodder for my obsessive tendencies. Lol

Well, for a start, I wouldn't reduce at 1mg a week once you get to 15mg and are still OK. You need to stay at any dose for at least a couple of weeks to be sure it is still enough! Most people seem to need a higher dose at the beginning and most schemes would keep you at your starting dose for a month before reducing at all. You will get lower - but rushing it just results in a flare and having to start again from a higher dose.

Not what you're looking for?
