My GP thinks it's PMR, my orthopaedist thinks it's frozen shoulder. Now after 5 days the pain is less, but not gone.
Thanks for the tip about taking the Pred at 2:00. The pain starts at about 3:00 am and I almost can't wait until 6:00 am to take the Pred. I'm trying it tonight.
I am grateful to have found this forum☺️

Your English is FINE!!!! Welcome to the forum - from me in Italy!
Is your pain and stiffness in your shoulder alone or does it affect other parts of your body?
There are many people who were told they had frozen shoulder and it turned out to be the start of PMR and even GCA. An orthopaedist should know better!
My stiffness is in both shoulders/upper arms, both hips and pelvic floor. My orthopaedist gave me 2x 800 mg ibuprofen. Didn't help at all. Then back to the GP because the pain was getting unbearable. Stiff arms, unable to get up from chair. He gave me 20mg of Pred. The pain is slowly subsiding. Please See also my bio.
Did the orthopaedist account for how a frozen shoulder was affecting hips and pelvic floor? Why don't they engagge their brains before expressing an opinion!
If it was frozen shoulder your pain would not change at all, trying to move your shoulders would be agony, I’ve had it and made months of physio to sort it out, my shoulders are in the wrong position now but that’s how they are staying.
Your English is very good! I was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder for about 18 months before it moved to my other shoulder and then I was eventually diagnosed with PMR. I guess you need to give the Pred some more time and some of us need a higher dose. It’s all a bit of trial and error as we say here in the UK. ☺️
It’s definitely PMR. The Pred worked wonders for it and I had a PET/CT scan which showed it and high inflammatory markers in my blood. All the best for tomorrow. Oh, and I had severe pain and stiffness in my shoulders, groin, hips and the backs of my thighs and front of my forearms.
My frozen shoulder in June 2022 led to full blown PMR by end of July. I was virtually a quadriplegic. Couldn’t move my arms or legs. Not certain what was the cause or effect but I started at 20mg prednisone in Sept 2022 and it definitely gave me my mobility back. Now on 3.5mg and if/when I get to 3 will be staying on that for a few months.
All of our best to you. We know the pain you are going through. 💜
After diagnosis frozen shoulder by my Orthopaedist on 8. Feb 2024 it was exactly the same to me: not possible to move arms and legs. I was so glad to become 20mg pred from my GP on 22. Feb. Today i hope to know more from my Rheumy. 🌷
