Newbie! Found this site yesterday and I,m so glad for the support that I didn't know was there.

Although diagnosed 2 years ago with PMR and GCA I find I know very little about my condition so I am keen to understand more.

Hi 1602!

I have no hesitation in recommending to you that you get hold of a couple of really good booklets.

Firstly, Kate Gilbert's book Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis: a survival guide. You can get it relatively cheaply on Amazon.

Secondly, Living with PMR & GCA. You can get this if you google pmr-gca-northeast.org.uk.

Both are excellent and recommended by loads of people on this forum.

Once you have digested these, keep in regular touch with the forum- you will learn loads from reading others' posts and the replies.

Good luck.

Thank you I have just received both of these and hope they answer some questions for me.

Totally agree with Charlie1boy, both books are easy to read, whereas some of the guidelines are a bit more detailed, and our "Pred" brains can't always take too much info!

The condition leaflets on patient.info are good as well, they have one for each PMR and GCA and also one directed at patients, one for doctors.

Well done! I'm sure you'll find both books helpful.

Good luck
