Moonface

After 5 months of preds I've developed the moon face when I thought I'd escaped. Was wondering, after preds get to zero, is the moonface reversible?

I didn't think I had a moonface, four years ago, until I saw a photograph of me with my slim daughter-in-law. However, at 2.5mg, I have now lost a few kg and my face is looking positively gaunt. So don't worry, it will shrink back to normal. Just don't get in front of a camera (or a mirror!) if it depresses you.

I've been getting through a fair amount of highlighter since a colleague said (after not seeing me for 6 weeks)," you look different somehow, oh yes, your face it get fat"

Oh good, poor you. I'm 6 months on pred now and feel for you x it will go

thank you all that is reassuring!

My moonface started to fade away as soon as I started losing weight on my low low carb regime (while still at 15mg) - I still have a chubby face but not the woman in the moon.

Some people are so tactless, Stroppymoo. I hope you gave that colleague a good piece of your mind.

There,s a language barrier as he is eastern European. I know he didn,t mean it to be hurtful.

Yes it goes completely but be careful of what you wish for....as in its wake are all the wrinkles it was camouflaging......I have aged 10 years since losing my moon face, I looked so much younger with it....😂

Funny - they're poisonous and can be pretty spikey too...

WHAT! Lesley that is an appalling thing to say to you. I have just started to show a "plumper" face after being on Prednisolone for five months and currently on 8 mg so see what I have to look forward to.

Sorry Lesley that reply was for stroppymoo with the moon face post. Haven't totally perfected how this all works yet .

I've been on this forum for about 4 years - I STILL forget you can't put a post up and it be really obvious who it is for! Their position seems to be utterly random...

You are doing fine.

She seemed to think it was a compliment! I was on 40-20 for the first year so hopefully you won't bloat so much.

I am in 10 mgs now - I can get my necklace on where I couldn't before. But still very puffy. But going in the right direction.

Best wishes

I also prefer my pred face. People pay money for fillers we get it for the price of a prescription!

Hi, my Moon Face started to reduce when I reached 10mg & was gone by the time I was on 5mg & I could feel my jaw & cheekbones again.

I've recently been back up at 7mg & after 2 months I've noticed the extra layer of chubbiness but now on 6.5mg so hoping to see it start to reduce soon.

People can be unkind, perhaps not intentionally but PMR can make you feel vulnerable but remember you always have kind friends here 💐

I just Photoshop it out!

Nearly everyday folk tell me how well I look with rounded face and all lines disappeared! ( not how I feel - grrrrh!!) So I suppose there are positives in all this.

Hey Jacko..😁 Here is a bit of my positive on this situation....I have learned to slow down and smell the flowers, let my friends and family help me carry my burdens, and.......drumroll here... I learned how to say No! a big deal for me, who always tried to keep everyone happy. Now I am the happy one 🤗

I have been deluding myself with face sculpture make-up favoured by the young for their selfies. That is until my Rheumie ( expecting an epic battle about reducing Pred) said of course you already have the moon face. Never mind it sets off my big prominent eyes from exopthalmic goitre.

You have to laugh really or you'd cry.

I was pretty once though, my nick name was baby doll in our group - sigh!

😳

"Oh you look so well"! Is the thing I hear so much. Moon face = no wrinkles in my case. My 54 year old moon face together with the new short bob hairdo which accentuates it, due to hair loss six months ago when on higher dose so had my long hair chopped off, makes me look 10 years younger so I have been told :D :D :D and all that without surgery or botox!

Yes it should go, I had a moon face after six months on 30mg of Pred but it went in the next six months after slowly reducing down to 10mg.

Not what you're looking for?
