FLU JAB

Hello

I m due to have a flu jab at the weekend. I have been on a dose of steroids for PMR 15mg a day for 3 weeks to see if it helps symptoms and oh yes it has. I have read that you shouldn't have a live vaccine while on steroids. What are your experiences please?

Hi,

Had a flu jab all through my Pred journey - no problem, although some people don't recommend it. It's not a live vaccine, but if you are concerned discuss with doctor beforehand.

The flu jab is a killed virus vaccine so is perfectly safe and most of us have had it done all through our pred journey. The nasal spray is only attenuated vaccine - so NOT suitable for us.

Hi vsapy, I have just had the flu jab and pneumonia jab on Monday, no ill effects at all. Have flu jab every year but pneumonia jab is a one off.

Just gone back to 15mg and had flue jab at the same time - not sure if there have been effects yet but still feeling exhausted - still wait till tomorrow and see !!!!!!

Hello,I am a practice nurse and give flu vaccine.It is not a live vaccine and you will be fine.You should have the vaccine expecially as you have PMR
