Prednisolone and antibiotics

Can anyone tell me if it's OK to take antibiotics at the same time as prednisolone?

I've been on pred for five years and had antibiotics several times - the latest was 6 weeks on Clarythromycin - with no ill effects. If in doubt about any particular antibiotic, do ask your pharmacist.

Yes I have taken antibiotics when having dental work carried out( extraction) . No problem - but I believe there is a "family" of antibiotics that it is advisable not to take. Remember there was a post re this from PMRpro but can't unfortunately remember the details. As mentioned before the best person to ask is your pharmacist not the GP, as some GPs not always aware of this.

Late comment I know - but if anyone finds this post the group of antibiotics mentioned by Jacko is the QUINOLONES - examples are ciprofloxacin and others whose names end in -oxacin. In combination with corticosteroids they can lead to achilles tendonitis - which is a pain in every sense!
