I am seeing my consultant at neuropathy tomorrow. Severe depression at the moment.

Is there a link  between pmr neuropathy and depression? Hate anti depressants.

Steroids can cause depression as one the side effects.

One of the signs of PMR can be depressed mood - with any autoimmune disorder really, so the neuropathy may be linked as well. And as piglette says - it is a side effect of steroids - you don't say what dose you are on but it is something you really need to discuss with your doctor because it can get worse if not identified and, preferably, managed.

PMR itself, chronic illness as a rule, is bound to lead to some degree of depression until you "come to terms with it" (oh how I hate that phrase) so don't let it get too bad. Counselling with regard to chronic illness might help - you have more than you fair share going on. And there is the "bereavement" of having lost "your" normal.
