This will probably only apply to people living in the UK.
Does anyone watch Doc Martin on Monday ITV at 09.00pm? I was surprised and shocked that in the programme the Docs Aunt Ruth has PMR/GCA. It will be interesting to see how that story line goes.
Hope you all keep well

I don't watch Doc Martin, but I am pleased to hear that the screenwriters for the show have chosen this nasty disease to play a part in their plot. The more viewers hear about it the better.
Hopefully. Bet there's a lot of people in their GPs surgery in the next few days asking the question. Let's hope their concerns are not brushed aside as "been on the TV so they think they got it" syndrome.
Yes saw that last night too. He didn't do the temple biopsy in the right place and I think the angle he did it with her sitting up was impossible. It will be very interesting as you say to see what develops. I wonder if she will put on weight and get the side effects of pred like we do. Watch this space. Hope you all feeling well today hugs to those who aren't x
Just posted about the same thing myself! I do feel her symptoms were played down a lot though lol........I'm only 55 & don't think I could have jumped off the treatment couch as easily as she did pre steroids! Nice to raise a little awareness though at least!
Nice to see all the replies although I have only got GCA so I really do not know what every one else is going through with PMR but I can guess by the posts on this forum, it seems pretty bad to me.
I watched it too..... ! Can't have been in as much pain as me to have been refusing treatment! Still it is good that awareness is being raised as I had never heard of PMR until I got it
Yes, I watched Doc Martin with interest and was amused/interested to hear him say that his aunt needed to be seen WEEKLY by her specialist or GP. If only!!
Some regular watchers of Doc Martin may recall that in an earlier programme about a year ago there was another reference to Polymyalgia. Perhaps someone on the Doc Martin team has the ailment and that's why they write it into the storyline. It will be interesting to see what sort of treatment his aunt receives.
