which makes my eyes blurry, got viscoclear eye drops, I have dry eye as well, but they are worse than normal. I'm still getting temple and jaw pain, going on methox injections soon, the rheumy is on my case, having lung function test, had lung scan, regular blood tests, got to have pneumonia jab as well. My esr keeps going up when I reduce preds, hence going on methox injections. Should I be ringing doctor or rheumy every time I get temple / jaw pain, I feel like I'm making too much fuss? Im on 45mg preds and 75mg aspirin, that should protect my eyes shouldn't it?! It's all so confusing!

Hello heli
Yes, the 45mg dose should be protecting your eyesight although some patients do need a higher dose to control the inflammation of GCA. But, don't ever feel you are "making too much fuss" - better to call the Dr/rheumy too many times than risk your eyesight. If temple/jaw pain returns, it needs checking out each time. I was told by my rheumy at my first appointment that if my head pain returned I was to ring him immediately.

Celtic is right - there are things that aren't important - temple and jaw pain ARE, especially if you already have GCA. Sometimes you need a higher dose to deal with it. If it is properly dealt with you shouldn't need to be ringing all the time!
