Hi poppysmam
I thoroughly recommend Double Base for its moisturising properties. It's available in either cream or gel form, in a pump dispenser and available OTC or on prescription. It was recommended to me a couple of years ago by my podiatrist for the soles of my feet which are susceptible to corns and hard skin. I tried it on the rest of my body and the improvement was amazing - no longer torn and bleeding skin from the slightest knock. A few other Prednisolone-takers have also since fallen in love with it and I hope it helps you too.
I use DoubleBase cream and have done for some time. Others here will agree with me that it does help and it can be bought OTC. You may be lucky enough to have a GP who will prescribe it for you as it can be expensive.

I use Dermol 200 shower emollient and moisturiser. I get 3 bottles a momth on prescription though you can buy it over the counter. You should avoid any soap or detergent based body wash/shower gel even the gentle moisturising ones for sensitive skin..
Thanks, on this, meggies. I also have patches of dry skin, on my left thigh and the left side of my face. I also have the red blood marks poppysmam spoke of, on both of my lower calves. Must be from the pred. Am down to 2mgs a day, but the dry skin remains. Very hard to get rid of the blood marks -- ? Will try the Dermol 200. thanks.
Thank You all i will try these, last GP i saw said there was nothing but seeing my usual one next week i will ask her if not i will buy some, sick of large red blood marks on my forearms and need to wear short sleeves in summer (if we get one) and my hubby says it looks like ive been self harming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I have found Boots own make Derma Care Daily Moisturising Cream (and they do a handwash I also use) extremely good - I think it has some barrier effect too. There was a time when I could hardly bear to put my hands in water and these helped a lot. They are cheaper than double base which I have not tried. My skin is much better now I am down to 9mg of PPred per day. Good luck.
Thanks alloment-lover, seeing GP on monday if i cant get anything on prescription i will try that as i priced double base cream on friday and it was £10.
It might be worth trying arnica cream on the red spots, it helped with mine. It's used for bruising here, but I did find it helped. Also Aloe Vera cream can be worth a try? I use the plant at home for burns and grazes now.
