Found cysts on MRI

Had a lower back MRI back in April and cysts were found on my kidneys!! I knew before this that my brother and my niece have PKD. I’m pretty sure it’s ADPKD because my mother does not have it, but my father may have.

My blood work in late June showed decrease kidney function (creatinine- 1.6). Nephrologist recommended a new MRI, for better view of the kidneys, so that specialized measurements could made by radiologist.

I also have to monitor my bp over next three weeks and have new blood work and a 24 hour urine test in 3 weeks. Hoping for good news in 3 weeks.

hello, some many people are diagnosed when imaging I used to investigate another ailment. The PKD Charity (UK based) has a very comprehensive website it also highlights the genetic inheritance of ADPKD and rare ARPKD.

Hi I was diagnosed in 2015 had it all my life and didn't even know it. I was 31 at the time. I have 4 brothers who none of have inmt and my mother and father don't have it. My nana is 80 and doesn't have it and my grandfather died of cancer at 74 ish. I was told my my neph that its a sporadic mutation of the genes. I had 3 years of mri scans which came back showing no significant signs of change. My values are in the normal range but I did start with loads of pain from a ruptured cyst. Good luck
