Marj suffering.

I am 56 years of age and having had two children now grown up and left home I decided to follow a career path a bit late I know but there it is. I started to study with the open university to degree standard but 6 months in developed thyroid eye disease which is an autu immune disease. That was in 2007, having recovered sufficiently from that took up my studies again earlier this year. In February started suffering with pelvic pain when I turned over in bed, I had an ultrasound which proved to be normal.since then my pain has escalated, I now have severe pain in my pelvic area and tramadol coupled with dyhydracodeine does not make me pain free. I cannot stand for more than 10minutes without this awful feeling of intense pressure. If I sit for more than an hour I cannot stand up without feeling as though my insides are being ripped out. I am starting to feel a bit desperate with this, it is taking over my life.

Yes I am, also sex is very uncomfortable and afterwards my pelvic pain is worse. No signs of a prolapse.

You may well have vaginal atrophy. I suggest you ask your GP if it might be worth trying Vagifem, a hormonal pessary which has helped me a lot.

Have you seen a urogynocologist? They are the specialists that normally are familiar and treat this chronic condition. Mine came on at 59 and I am now 66. Statisically, onset is at a much younger age. The largest majority of primary care physicians are not aware that this disorder exists....you need a referral to a specialist. May you find the care and relief you need soon.
