My son 26 years old has been suffering from severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Comes on randomly. He weighed 190 and is now down to 120lbs. It’s been about a year and a half and he has had an Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Cat Scan, blood work, stool sample, allergy test and has seen an Oncologist and everything comes back normal. I have serious concerns that they can’t seem to find anything wrong. His BMI is very low and I’m worried that this can become something worse and since he’s so thin. If he continues to lose weight it could start affecting his organs and could die which is why I’m so scared. We have even tried weight gainer. It starts to work but once the symptoms come back and he has another episode he loses the weight he put on. Which is only a few pounds. I’m at a lost and don’t know what to do. Can anyone tell me what else can be done?

My son has had Abdominal pain and Vomiting for a year and a half and has lost weight from 190 to 120lbs. What else can we do?
I assume he's been tested for celiac disease? I'm wondering if the doctors have had him on budesonide because that usually stops diarrhea
If they found nothing then at this point I would go to a naturopathic doctor or a Chinese herbal doctor they can do wonders and it's such an ancient art they practice that they can come up with things the Western doctors couldn't even have thought of in the wildest dreams I've heard of a lot of people being helped by them ... They will probably try some acupuncture and reiki
That’s sounds such a worry for you. I would also advise the natural/homeopathic/naturopath route. I’m currently reading Dr Wahls protocol book which uses the paleo principles to treat autoimmune conditions. Sometimes we have to be our own doctors? Wishing your son a full return to good health soon.
Has he seen Endocrinologist? Could be a glandular disorder. My granddaughter has Methylmalonic Acidia. Actually a disorder found in newborn testing. She was projectile vomiting when too much protein was eaten. She is now on special diet. Rocky68
Has your son been checked for internal shingles? Our friends’ son had a similar experience. No one could identify the cause of his severe digestive problems. It was internal shingles. He has recovered well.
Also, perhaps check his diet to see if he’s eating an oxalate rich diet. That can manifest in different ways in different people. Oxalates cause problems in many of us.
I hope your son gets the help he needs - prayers sent. Please keep us posted.
Did they do any breath tests to see if he has too much bad bacteria balance in his gut? I used to be suspected of having ibs or celiac-but I didn't. Weirdly found out I have bouts of SIBO (small intestinal bacteria overgrowth syndrome) when investigating why I was so low and not seeming to absorb vitamins and nutrients orally. I was on vitamin injections for two years alongside eating my normal well and taking supplements because of SIBO and even without SIBO I don't seem to absorb stuff well, to the point my cells weren't doing good (enlarged, can't replicate enough, anemic, permanent nerve damage, so weak and nauseous etc).
Thank you, no hasn’t had this test. Who does he see for this?
I think it was ordered by my gastro by suggestion of my PCP of the time. I had to get a endoscopy and colonoscopy too, so they booked me the whole miserable weekend since it had to be a stricter blander diet for the breath test, and I had to go to a separate clinic for it to be done...but that way suffer just once!
Ok thank you.
