Hello everyone, I am new here. I would really appreciate if someine can advice me what to do from your previous experiences. I am 26 yeras old fighting with vulvodynia and IC or irritable bladder conditions. According to symptoms I am pretty sure that I have a vulvodynia vestibulitis. Sex is impossible and also discomfort. Finally I found a Dr. in my country gynecologist who something knows about this condition. He is forcing me to make a biopsy from affected tissue. Is it a good idea or should I first try trigger point injections? What I read, it is quite painful or should I try medications like Gabapentin or what should i do now? Everything here with our doctors take so slowly and I need to move on. I am quite scared of trigger point injections but is anyone here who has vulvodynia vestibulitis and this helped? Thank you very much for advices.

I do not understand why he wants you to have a biopsy. Did you ask him? I would see another gynecologist before I had anything done. Be sure you have answers you understand. It might be good to have someone else go with you to discuss with the new doctor. I for one, think you must see someone else for a second opinion. You have to understand why you need a biopsy, get another opinion before you know what your next step should be!
Thank you for your reply. The biopsy he wants because he wants to be sure if a tissue of the affected area is damaged or somehow inflamed (dermatology, skin issues) or when it comes negattive then it means that it is caused by hypersensitive nerve endings or inflamed nerve knots/endings and then he will send me to neurologist for a treatment. I am just thinking if I could avoid biopsy and wants him to send me right to neurologist and try therapy like gabapentin... medication which affect CNS to decrease pain and neurosensitivity and inflamation. But what i have heard these type of medication have a side effects and it is heavy stuff to your body.
