Purdenal Neuralgia
of course, surgery is a last resort attempt and may create further problems for some.
well, if you go to the pudendalhope forums, there are a lot of people who got better over time via PT, medication, mindfulness (their claim), etc.
severed nerves grow back at a rate of 1 mm/day, you can think somewhere between 6 months to 3 years
there is also a french forum on PN you can read (google chrome translates it automatically) and there are success stories there at welll.....for some it was running which got them to get better and so on
There are different theories about this. Some say that the nerve can be irritated long term by muscles or tendons without being entrapped while others say a nerve can be entrapped and subject to pressure which causes pain. Others say that pressure on a nerve doesn't necessarily cause pain and that the original injury can heal but the pain can persist because of connections created in the brain. Yet others say the pain is an expression of unresolved emotions in the subconscious so an operation will be futile.
If you have the surgery and dont feel better, try a ganglion of impar nerve block (tailbone) from a pain management specialist, as these nerves can transmit pain along the distribution of the pudendal nerve and pelvic floor muscles.
