Peginterferon alfa 2a or Hydroxycarbamide for PV?
My consultant has said I need to start treatment for PV and has asked me to choose between them. I'd really welcome any recommendations. I am new to this site, apologies uf this has been asked before.

Effective Management of Polycythemia Vera With Ropeginterferon Alfa-2b Treatment
Discussion; The results in our study demonstrate that the new dosing regimen of 250-350-500 µg of ropeginterferon alfa-2b is well-tolerated and highly efficacious in patients suffering from PV. This dosing regimen was associated with a rapid achievement of CHR without the need for phlebotomy or erythrocyte

Individualized Dosing of Ropeginterferon Alfa-2b Ensures Optimal Response in Patients with Low-Risk Polycythemia Vera (PV)
Conclusions: High long-term response rates (80.4% at 24 months; 73.2% at 72 months) were achieved with ropeginterferon alfa-2b treatment in the low-risk PV population when the dose was optimized on an individual basis. No specific baseline characteristics among low-risk PV patients appear to be associated

Event-free survival in patients with polycythemia vera treated with Besremi versus best available treatment
»Normal life expectancy may be achievable in PV based on comparable overall survival in interferon-treated patients and a matched US population (p = 0.3), contrasting with shortened survival (p = 0.03) in non-interferon treated patients at the same academic center [3]. Although overall survival was

Interferons as the First Choice of Cytoreduction in ET and PV
»Interferons are a group of cytokines with immunomodulatory properties and were the first immune therapies used in the treatment of cancers, including hematologic malignancies. Use of standard interferon alfa-2b for MPN treatment has been limited by its difficulty in administration and adverse effect

Christmas Chuckle
Holiday time is for feasting; We look forward to each treat. The tables are full of our favorite foods; We’ve got lots of good things to eat. We scarf marshmallowed sweet potatoes; There’s cider and eggnog to slurp. There’s so much going down at once, Who can help an occasional burp? Here’

Greater Understanding of PV, ET Drives Potential New Treatment Options
“Continued high-impact research may soon foster the development of disease-modifying therapies for PV and ET and satisfy this need for the optimal management of patients with these MPNs,” they said. Researchers are also determining how to best optimize current treatment options, including JAK inhibitors

On bone marrow biopsy (BMB)?
Hello everyone, People with PV/ET regularly (e.g., per month) test their blood to keep track of cell counts and other things. How about bone marrow biopsy (BMB)? Are there repeats of BMB test to check changes after the first one that was performed to detect any mutation like JK2 ? If yes, how the results

Dukoral - Cholera Vaccine
I just took my first dose of Dukoral. I will wait a week to take the second dose. A friend of mine who lives outside of Detroit Michigan went over to Windsor and made the purchase and had no problem crossing the border with it. He declared it as an over the counter diarrhea med. The agent laughed
