Hiya 2 weeks ago my daughter who has PCD started coughing more and had a snottier nose than usual so i took her to the GP for her usual dose of co-ammoxiclav that she has when she developes a cough as i want it caught before it developes to anything worse. Anyway after a week on it she was fine back to normal. She took her last dose last night and today back to her usual azithromycin 3 x a week and ive noticed shes snottier again and tonight shes coughing loads again. Shes not ill in the past when shes got ill and ended up in hospital shes gone off her food had a tempreture and been tired shes completely normal running about eating fine showing no signs of struggling when breathing and her breathings normal speed. Her chest sounded find when she last saw her consultant and the nurse 2 weeks ago said she could only hear slight crackling. Usually a 2 week course clears up any coughs she gets but can something come back so quickly when the antibiotics only finished last night. I think she is also teething still as she has a red cheek does anyone know if teething can make things worse. It sounds like shes very snotty i think thats whats making her cough. Ill go back to the gp tomorrow. She wont let me use any nasel drops or sprays i have olbas oil for kids i dont know what else to try help her snotty or blocked nose at night.
Sorry for long post. No-one else really understands and i ramble when im worried i really dont want her to end up in hospital as shes not acting ill and she'll hate being trapped in a room she ripped out every canula last time went through about 15!! Plus i dont want her to miss easter we were going to see my mum and she loves visiting nanny.
Sorry rambling again.
Any advice would be great.

My son who is 18 Mths can be like this - sometimes they just need a longer dose to get rid of it. Id say your gp will think the same. they really try to avoid having them admitted - just the risk of being infected by other things while in. My son was in last wk and he was the same it was so hard to contain him now he is busy. And teething defo makes things worse cause they are off form anyway. Hope your gp can help this morning. and have a nice trip to see your mom
Thank you for replying. The GP listened to her chest said it was completely clear and theres nothing we can do about her snotty nose said to keep an eye on her which i obviously know. Erin was diagnosed around 5 months old i know what to look out for ive just been doubting myself lately i dont know why have times when it gets abit to much anyway Erins fine i was just worrying for nothing wish i didnt have to sit in the doctors almost 2hrs though lol. She sounds abit rattly today but goes when she coughs and wasnt coughing last night. She hasnt been admitted since jan 2015 so shes been luckily she was in and out of hospital for the first year or so.
Apart from her being stuck in hospital with a bored Erin i have a 5yr old son if there dad needs time off to look after him if im with Erin hes not paid so its extra worry. I always feel like her consultant would be quite happy to admit her but touch wood her chest has been ok when we last saw him.
What physio do you do with your little one. We just bounce or run around. Her physiotherapist suggested having a box with items in so Erin can choose what to do but things like blowing doesnt really get her coughing like excerise does. X
That's good hopefully it will just clear over the next few days. My little girl just turned 5 as well so similiar age to your son. and its the same situation with work for either of us if we have to miss. We don't do a huge amount of physio with my son as yet, but we try to do alot of exercise with my little girl. If we get a confirmed result for the 2 of them we will need to learn how to do proper chest physio. their brushings came back inconclusive in January and we are going to go over to Southampton for the tests again end of april
My 2 you doesn't have PCD but he loves to join his sister's physio. His favourite is a bit of fairy liquid and 2 cm of water in a cup. Put a straw in it and blow a volcano of bubbles.
Next best are the little tubes our physio sent us for putting a cotton wool ball into. Then you do a huge "huff" breath and shoot cotton wool balls at each other. That one's good fun!
Interesting, they get boring for my daughter who's 5, but the wee man loves them. We recently discovered the malteaser game for my daughter, it's great! Put Malteasers In a bowl and she needs to sUckfield them up through a straw to get them to another bowl. She gets to eat them if she can move them. We never have any trouble getting her to do physio when it's this one!
Thank you those games sound great. I will def try them. I just feel like blowing doesnt do much when she runs or bounces i can hear it moving then she coughs she doesnt when blowing so i never know if its working. I say give a big blow and she just blows a raspberry lol. Shes 3 in june. Would you play those games for the whole 15mins? Do you do it twice a day? We do ours morning after breakfast and night before bed. Sorry for all the questions. I will def try them though x
We only do physio at night time currently, but then Mischa doesn't have much chest involvement yet, thankfully. Her problems are mainly in her nose and ears.
Yes, play for 15 minutes to get the chest expanding. You can see her getting better at it after 5 or 10 minutes.
We also bought a WII for exercising in the winter months- Just Dance is great, it gets her and me bouncing around. Even the sword game works because she waves the remote around so wildly, pretty soon she's out of breath.
