urso / stomach issues

hi friends,

I have been taking urso for a year. In the past month I have experienced stomach issues. Has anyone else taken urso for a while and then developed stomach issues after a good bit of time? Thanks for any feedback.

Good morning, I haven’t been on Urso long enough to comment, just since April, but know that with any medication it’s possible to develop side effects at any point. This happened even after being on a med for years, then suddenly I started having effects with it. Maybe a pharmacist might recommend some ways of increasing tolerability?

I have taken all forms of urso..Always take with food..like a meal not a cracker..if you continue to have issues asked your provider to change manufacturers for you...from time to time a. Company will change fillers and people get upset stomachs...there are numerous generic providers .

Yes, stomach issues can occur. I have been on Urso for a few years - try not to take it on an empty stomach ( mornings). That seemed to help. Good luck!!

Hi, Welcome to our “Rare world”.

I was on the Urso dosage study 30 yrs ago. That’s how long I’ve taken Urso. Yes like the others have said please take it with food. Remember it’s a synthetic acid so it needs something in the stomach to work with.

FYI: The Liver is the top of your digestive system. It’s filters the bile into the gall bladder. If you think of the bile it creates mixing with a “Synthetic Acid” Urso, that’s a good cause for stomach issues. Most of us suffer with GERD or some kind of stomach issues. It’s a given with all the meds we take, and mixture there of!

Good luck, the gang has given you excellent info about taking Urso.

take with meals for sure. My doc has me do split dose, one with breakfast and one with dinner. Also ask doc about dairy and gluten. I have been better stomach-wise since reducing both.

Hello, I’ve been on Urso since 2019. It didn’t agree with my stomach in the beginning. I stopped taking it in three separate doses per day and started take my three doses together after dinner. It hasn’t bothered me since. That makes no sense at all but that’s how it went for me.

That’s how it’s prescribed in Australia. Just get the right dosage in your body. Take with food. That three times a day is just US doctors showing off their degree.
