Blood thinners post surgery

I have to have knee replacement surgery. The surgeon said I need to be on a blood thinner, which I knew. I have progressed to the beginning of cirrhosis. What thinners have any of you used? I see my doctor in a week or so to talk about it, but I wanted to see if anyone has experience with this.

I’ve been on Xarelto for over two years for a heart problem. So far, the only annoyance is any minor cut or scrape tends to bleed more than normal. But this is a minor price to pay for a ticker that keeps humming along.

I think I can handle that. It'll only be for 30 to 35 days. I'm in so much pain, I really need the surgery. My endoscopy was clear of any problems and I just had a colonoscopy that was fine. My last MRI of my liver was good. I just wanted anyone's thoughts. Looks like I'll bring up Xarelto.

I’ve been in Xarelto for a-fib since 2015. Because the PBC /liver disease naturally thins the blood and the Xarelto is necessary to prevent strokes, my blood is incredibly thin. So thin that I’d look down to read something and the blood ran out of my nose. On February 18 they implanted the WATCHMAN in my heart. I go April 7 for a TEE to assure the device is where it’s supposed to be and is sealed. If so, they stop my Xarelto and put me on Plavix and a baby aspirin until my 6 months post op.. so as of August 18, I will only be taking the 81 mg aspirin— no more blood thinner. Well— I digressed. I’ve never had trouble with Xarelto.. even fell a few times but no bleeds. The doctor will know best.
