I was recently diagnosed with PBC. Does anybody have any recommendations on doctors in the Southern California area who specialize with this disease?

What area of Southern California are you located and what insurance do you have? In order to make a recommendation for a knowledgeable PBC doctor, this info would be helpful.

I am in Chatsworth which is in the West San Fernando valley. UCLA, USC, Cedars are within 1 hour travel time. I have a Blue Shield PPO plan. Thank you.

I see Dr Lydia Aye, Hepatologist out of Loma Linda University Medical Center. She is excellent. By the way, I used to live in Chatsworth, I'm in Hemet now.

Good morning...My recommendations are more for the organization than an individual doctor. I was a medical social worker in the Beverly Hills area and got to know some of the local places quite well. Cedar has a reputation for top doctors. They have a team of hepatology surgeons that may see patients at or near the hospital.

UCLA has the David Giffen School of Hepatology. They are known for having the latest diagnostic and therapeutic modalities.

At USC, a fine organization, they currently have a Dr. Durazo who is to be quite brilliant.

Maybe make some phone calls and interview them. I know you can usually get a medical assistant on the phone to pose questions about the doctor. Lots of websites available to read reviews on doctors too. Maybe google the teams at the places you are considering them go to health grades and vitals. How blessed you are to have such great insurance. Best of wished on your journey. Be well
