How long does it take to find out the results of your biopsy????

I had an appointment 6 weeks after my biopsy but the christmas break was inbetween so that may have had a difference.

Hi Sandrakay. I got a diagnosis within a week but only because I badgered them. I didn't have a consultant appointment for several weeks after and couldn't wait that long!

In the states it goes a litle diffrently I guess. We usually get results back in 5 to 6 days. I just had a liver biopsy today and have an appointment with my physician next Tuesday.

Unfortunately here in England bbobb55 if you are an NHS patient as majority of us are then the wheels certainly seem turn a bit on the slow side where getting certain results go.

I have always thought though that with results, if you don't hear anything and have been given a return date for hospital or to see a GP then you can sort of take it that there is nothing untoward.

Know at the end of the day it doesn't stop one worrying though. I can recall waiting and waiting for the results of the AMA back in late 2010. Had to endure 6 weeks before I got a telephone call from the GP surgery informing me I had to go in to see the GP as he had had a letter from the hospital doc who had requested he give me a script. The receptionist who rang then gave me an appt for 6 days later!!! It was only when I asked her what the GP was to give me and she tried to pronounce urso and I corrected her I knew what I was to be told but wanted to see the GP there and then not 6 days later!! It was only my husband calling the surgery back that gave me an instant appt within half hour of him calling otherwise I would have had to have waited.
