Hi Yes Ive had palpitations and done the rounds of the cardio dept twice now. I get spells of them for 2-3 weeks then it might not happen again for 6 months. All I know is my heart looks healthy on a scan - consultant said come back if you have more problems, (hum get an appointment on the NHS in 2-3 weeks - I dont think so!) So I just tell my GP so it is a matter of record.

I dont know what medication you take but I know some medications cause palpitations.

Hi I too have had palpitations and tachycardia , I also have seen the cardio, done tests, had to wear a 24hr monitor, my heart too looks healthy on the screen. I was on beta blockers, but my liver dr didn't like them so I came off, now I take aconite (homeopathic) when I get them, and that seems to help.

all the time - it was one of the symptoms that took me to the docs in the first place. They scared the life out of me. As with the rest of you - no heart problems detected

I've had palpitations and 'racing' heart (what the docs call 'flushing') for a long time and have had test after test. I was convinced it occurred after eating certain things so after many months of dietary experimentation, I can say that racing and palpitations occur, for me, after eating foods containing fat particularly dairy. Also when I have caffeine but this is quite common apparently.

I had palpitations for years and that eventually got me connected to my diagnosing Gastroenterologist. However, eventho' my Gastro. discovered the AIH/PBC, it did nothing for the palpitations. Had racing heart off and on for nearly 40years and they could never find anything. Last year, after multiple cardio tests and them all coming out negative, my cardiologist had me go for a ElectroPhysiology Study. (Google it. LOL) They did 10 "ablations" which is like cauterizing nerves around the heart. That settled things down for a while. Then I had a couple more "episodes" and the Dr. implanted a "loop recorder" which is a 24/7 device that you don't have to do anything with, other than go have it "read" every 3 months, unless you have problems. The recorder reads the workings of your heart and then it prints out at the reading appointment. 2 months after the implantation, had another "episode" and the recorder caught it. Back for another EP Study. Did 32 (yes 32) ablations this time and have been fine since. That was this past January. I have been fine -in that dept. - since and they took the recorder out last month.

Then they also found out that I have COPD which had been causing similar problelms. JOY! LOL

So, I'm beginning to think that maybe it could be another of those "AutoImmune" problems. Hmm?

SO - this Elder's thots are -" Don't give up on testing for these palpitations. It really could be a problem. Good luck to you all and have a blessed day.
