does any one have vitiligo as a problem with their pbc

Hi chrissey. I sometimes wonder if I am starting with vitiligo as I have patches around my neck that are white. However, I'm not sure whether it is pigmentation that I have on my neck as a leftover from pregnancies! Will be interesting to see what others post.

i have been told vitiligo is an autoimmune sympton i am new to pbc waiting for a scan next week i also seem to be more sun sensitive and my skin looks more tanned thank god i found this web it is so full of imformation good luck x

Yes I do. My mother had PBC and my father has Vitiligo. Mostly on my hands and face. Only noticeable when I get a tan. Diagnosed 2004. I have 4 autoimmune conditions now (Underactive Thyroid diag. 2005 & AIH diag. 2011 - same time as PBC) once you have one you are more succeptable to more. Hope this helps. X

I think this is one of the conditions with PBC. I only have a few patches of Vitiligo on my torso so unnoticeable. Dont think this is a problem. I would think others have more patches and it might cause them some concern.

Dont worry about it. There are other conditions related to PBC which are a problem.

I have it on my hands, it has spread a little over the last 7 years but still only on my hands. I always thought it was patches from high factor sun lotion left on my knuckles where I had been applying lotion on the children

Im not too bothered with it at present but I know you can get camoflage makeup to cover it

Now that this question has been brought up, I have had dark patches on my torso just under my breast, Doc says just old age but I've had them for years, now I know why, I would have never have connected this,I also have underactive thyroid, thats why this site is so good, you get more info from here than anywhere else, thankyou all

Vitiligo is depigmentation of the skin, that is to say it is white not dark. Dark patches can be caused by excess melanin, commonly known as chloasma or melasma and is common in pregnant women and also women that take the pill. It also appears when you get older, especially on the hands. I hope this helps.

Re the cover up, I think this is offered free with the Red Cross. Think one of the clinics is based at The Royal in Glasgow. X

Hi, the skin camouflage clinics are all over the uk and they are great. The website is changingfaces.org.uk, i was referred by my dermatologist and the staff are brill, they match your skin with the correct cream and powder, the effects are amazing would definitely recommend giving them a try, the creams they prescribe last for up to 4 days and withstand swimming, showering etc, hope you can find a clinic near you

I am AMA positive, and itch, have mottled palms, aches and pains AND a vitiligo patch on my stomach which hasn't changed in two years. I have not been diagnosed with pbc because my lft's are normal. But I'm going back to see consultant now because pbc is now being diagnosed in patients with normal lft's, no symptoms just the AMA!

I did read that vitiligo can be another autoimmune condition along side pbc, but it's nothing to worry about

I have had vitiligo for about 40 years. It is spread throughout my body, also pbc was diagnosed last year and I have throid disease which was diagnosed about 15 years ago. Anyone out there find a "good" camouflage for vitiligo.
