I have had a hysterectomy and have no itch. Does this apply to anyone else?

Just curious as a couple of you commented on the itch being related to your periods? (I have not had a period since my hysterectomy 16yrs ago). Interesting concept given the link to hormones???

I had a partial hysterectomy 8 years ago. Still have my overies so would still have the hormones, although at 54 now guess they are mostly dried up. I do have the itch. It is not severe but still bothersome none the less.

Will be interesting to see what other are experiencing and if we can see some kind of pattern.

Sorry I should probably have mentioned that I too still have my overies but I am in the menopause, which I started last year, at the same time as I was diagnosed with PBC so I think my overies have packed in too. I am now 47. x

I wish. Had a hysterectomy when I was 27 and have a terrible itch.

I had a full hysterectomy in 1993 and don't have any overies and I have the itch

I had a full hysterectomy when I was 30 (20 years ago - doesn't seem that long!)

and thankfully no itch. Lots of other stuff but no itch!

I had my ovaries out in 2010 (aged 60), as there was the possibility of a problem but all was ok.

I had just been diagnosed with PBC from a blood test taken for another reason. I have no itch and (with everything crossed) I can say that so far I have few symptoms of PBC but have every sympathy for those of you who do. I feel my mother may have had PBC too (itching ,dry eyes ) but this was before I was diagnosed so no thought of testing her. She died at 92.

My itch was never to do with my periods. I have gone through my menopause but get itching from time to time , I get my itch on the top of my arms. I also have had a transplant and have pbc back.

Hi

I am 50, peri menopausal and no itch.

My itching is not related to my periods, for I had a hysterectomy in 1985. My ovaries were removed also at different times, 5 yrs apart. I have been on HRT for 22 yrs.

Oh well then, it seems that regarding hormones, there are no black and white answers either, just like PBC!!! Why am I not surprised!!! Thanks for your replies girls. x

Having had a hysterectomy and both ovaries removed in 1986 it has not made a difference to my dreaded itch!

Were you on HRT then? But I suppose that would not have any bearings on the itch now as you are post menopausal. X

I had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago and was diagnosed with PBC just after and have suffered the itch recently and I am not on HRT hope this helps

Think you hit it on the nail. Looks like whether you are peri/actual/post menopausal it does not make any difference to the itch! Xx

I have had a week nearly itch free but my period is due in a few days and the itching has goes through the roof!! Once bleeding starts (sorry TMI) it fades but towards the end of period it gets really bad. I am wondering if the procedure to clean the blood (sorry can't remember name) will stop the itching. Anyone had this? Sx
