What's the one thing you never got at Christmas ( from Santa, of course) that you had your heart set on?

Many years ago I wanted an engagement ring. Santa did not come through with it. It turned out to be a blessing though because we broke up and a year or two later Santa came through with my lifelong partner.

I can so relate to this. I had been dating a guy for 4 years - just waiting for 'the question'. A week before Christmas in '71 I was casually introduced to a guy whose wedding partner was a girl I went to nursing school with. Could have cared less about him.... 6 weeks later we were engaged! last September we celebrated 52 years. Things happen for a reason, don't they? Sounds like we were both blessed.

Did you ever get a bike even as an adult. I still remember riding thru our front yard on my aqua Schwin... things you remember just like yesterday, right?

Never had a bike Donna.

Dad said no, he thought the roads were unsafe in the 50s and 60s. I dread to think what he would say days these days. I haven't bothered as an adult. The city where I am is very hilly it would be a lot of hard work.

My bike days are over. I bought a bike with 'gears' after my transplant. What was I thinking?! Never used gears before. Needless to say I fell off. Now I'm afraid to even get back on one - that was almost 20 years ago.

Being much younger than my siblings, 10 to 20 years, I was blessed. My sisters were nurses and my mum and dad both worked. I was very musical, and so was my mum, and she would move heaven and earth to get me any musical instrument i thought i would like to play. So…I have a house and a carful of guitars, harmonicas, an accordion, my fiddle…just cant put my piano in! Now, as a Grammy, i do the same for my grandbabies, and i am so grateful that three of them are musical. They are taking lessons….i never did! In winter, when we go to Florida, i take as much as i can in the car, and share my gift of music with whoever wants to listen or play along. I am so blessed.

What a wonderful tradition to continue with your grandbabies. Music is surely good for the soul - just a powerful and positive part of our lives. Music just helps us remember good times and good people in our lives
