portal tract

This refers to the structures within the liver that contain the hepatic artery and the portal vein plus the bile duct branches.

All of these components are needed for function of the liver. It is in PBC that these structures are affected. It is within the portal tracts that the small bile duct damage occurs along with the presence of inflammatory cells
