Hi Donna,

I had an elastography done. Are these ranges applicable to that as well? Which is more reliable a Fibroscan or elastography?

I just posted an article about MRE. I hope it helps.... an MRE is more sophisticated imaging.

I did. I did not have an MRE. Mine was ultrasound elastography. Not sure if that is as good as a fibroscan.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, an ultrasound elastrography is a fibroscan. A MRE is a bit more specific and sophisticated than a fibroscan. Many institutions don't have a MRE machine.

Thank you. Where I live there is no Fibroscan machine. Had an ultrasound elastography done in 2021. Based on those results I flew to Seattle, Wa to have a Fibroscan on a Fibroscan machine in 2022. Just had another elastograpy done my Kpa score was 6.43. In 2022 my score was 5.2 on the Fibroscan machine. I am unclear on which way is more reliable. My understanding is that the ultrasound result is based on the opinion of the radiologist.

It does depend on the skill of the one who does the scan for sure. Those with bigger body sizes don't always get accurate readings as well. Remember elastography is the same as a fibroscan. I would think if you have it done at a larger medical center they are more skilled at what they do just due to the number of tests they do. I'm not sure the interpretation of the reading - that would surely make a difference if the doctor doesn't do these very often. I would just ask......
