I would assume that the liver has deteriorated a bit , by how much ,depends on the results . The PBC medication does not stop the attack on our livers but slows it down. Did your doctor explain the results and indicate how much had changed, it may only be slight . I always take it that if my doctors don’t worry then I have no need to , they always share when concerned but not everyone is like that . If you have questions, then you should speak to your doctor . Thank you for your message. I have had more blood tests and I’m awaiting a fibroscan. I guess this will all help build the full clinical picture x

Fibroscan measures the stiffness of the liver. I did one earlier this year. The nurse did the scan and explain the results to me right after while I was waiting for my hepatologist. Then my hepatologist also reviewed it in detail with me.

The very first time I had the fibroscan my doctor reviewed with me right after too. He was in his "professor" mode, pulled up charts, explain the reference ranges/scores and how the shear waves are generated during the scan. All very scientific. I like understanding everything so he usually explains to me.

I see that you are also waiting on further tests which will build a better picture for you. There are other reasons that your liver can show heterogeneous changes such as fatty liver which is reversible with diet. This is something that you really need to talk over with your doctor who will have your full medical history available. Do come back and let us know how you get on.
