Anyone dealing with fibromyalgia as well as PBC? How do you manage the fibro? Seems like most meds are contraindicated for those with liver disease.

sorry to read you also have fibromyalgia to deal with, it is not something I have but I believe it can be difficult to get on top of it. Have you tried a warm hot water bottle on the most painful area, sometimes it can be soothing for pain. Obviously you will know that you need to exercise even though it is painful. Using an external gel like Ibuprofen may help or have you heard of Tiger Balm? Of course anything you decide to use needs to be approved with your specialist. I hope you find a solution soon. PBC and joint/bone pain seems to go together for some of us. If you can tune in to the Q&A sessions on Facebook on Thursdays at 2p.m. UK time you can always type questions directly to the PBC Foundation and the specialist who is presenting on that day.

Thank you. Heat does help for the muscle pain. Fibro also comes with depression, anxiety, insomnia, and severe temperature sensitivity. Winter is quite unpleasant as I am in a cold climate and the cold is interrpreted as pain by my nervous system. These are the main things that are so difficult to deal with. Unfortunately due to an issue with identity theft I choose to not be on Facebook so can't take advantage of that resource. I rely on natural things like diet, talk therapy, exercise, and such but still struggle.

I think you can also hear live presentations through click meetings, if you go to the PBC Foundation web site you can find the information. Hope this helpful, good luck winter is hard

I also have pbc and fibromyalgia. I find endless fatigue is my biggest issue . For a while I took a very low dose antidepressant to help me sleep better but I don't think it made any difference so I stopped taking it. I now just take Urso. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and try to keep active but it's an uphill battle when you have no energy. I don't think the exercise makes things any better or worse. I use heat pads when my neck and shoulders are really painful - they're nice at the time but don't make any real difference. I haven't found that paracetamol or ibuprofen help either. Like you, I have an extreme intolerance to cold (as well as Reynauds) and I dread winter. I haven't identified anything that really helps - I just keep busy, get on with life, and try to ignore the aches and pains. Let me know if you've found anything that helps on your journey!
