Any relief for itching caused by neuropathy?
I have neuropathy which improved once my pernicious anaemia was diagnosed and I was given B12 injections. I still have neuropathy (only diagnosed by GP no tests) in my hands and feet but the crawl feeling up the legs has receded.
I also suffer quite badly with the so called itch of PBC which I had before I noticed the tingling in the hands and feet.
My itch is subdued using Rifampicin, Sertraline and when I could get it Colestyramine. I am currently unable to source Colestyramine and the itch worsened.
I have previously been prescribed Gabapentin for the neuropathy (I think in the USA a similar drug is Pregabalin) and as Gabapentin did not seem to have any side effects for me I have had to reintroduce it to help calm the itch. This mixture of drugs seems to help although I still suffer the underlying hot stinging pins which make the skin feel alive. I continue to believe this "itch" is PBC related rather than coming from neuropathy.
I hope this is helpful.
Hi suffer from an horrific itch all the time but just think it's my pbc.
I've started a new drug called Riferdan and it's working
