I have been taking glucosamine for 20 years to help with osteoarthritis. My knees were in bits in my 40's, now I'm running and working out in the gym at 66, with PBC with very little noticeable arthritis.

I started taking a collagen supplement that also has hyaluronic acid in it. I have noticed the dryness has decreased and I feel better overall. Take on empty stomach and mix collagen powder with non cold water. I will continue with this as it has helped me. Hope you have a good experience too.

Thank you, it’s good to hear you felt some benefit I was wondering if It effects your LFT my ALT has risen but it could be down to having a few drinks over the pre Christmas festivities! Not sure which is the culprit. Happy new year and good health

Hello I was also wondering the same thing. I would like to try it too. But I am afraid the collagen will raise my ALP. How has your ALP number been affected? I am trying to just stick with bone broth. But it’s hard to find one without onion in it.

My ALT in August had gone down within normal range ( first time in 10 years) and my consultant told me just to get blood done every 6 months but as my GP wanted to check my calcium levels I thought I’d get my LFT checked wish now I hadn’t as ALT had gone back up to 70, I will recheck at the end of January but I have been drinking alcohol which I had avoided before for quite a while so I’m not sure if it’s alcohol or collagen that is the problem. Anyway back on no alcohol and healthy eating and see what happens, will post my results

Wow that’s awesome for your ALT. But I am worried about the ALP. Mine is still a little above normal. I was hoping a powdered bone broth would put it in normal range. Did you mean your ALP went down?Because that is the liver function they look at for disease progression.

ALT is the marker my consultant is concerned with, I have questioned many times why most sufferers are more concerned with ALP rather than ALT It’s really confusing

Hello. Elevated ALP can be from liver or bones. My hep watches bilirubin as he says that one is the true function of the liver. He also watches AST and ALT. Of course he wants ALP to not be high.
