A Different me!

I have just updated my photo on my profile as I have changed quite a bit since the old one was taken. Gone has the dyed hair and fringe,. I don`t know why but I no longer can bear hair on my face, just another of the PBC idiosyncrasies! I am still 78, I can`t change that, but after being told in 2000 I had a terminal illness with no cause or cure, I am still here and enjoying life.

Oidra! Now you look younger still! I dislike my hair touching my face too, partly because it can be tickly. I was given same story as you with the added "and you're already too old (64 at the time) to go on the transplant list."

I think you are looking great for 78. and I love that you have given up on the dyed hair. I'm 56 and have been dying my hair since I was 30 years old. I just started a new job and decided i would go undyed. They will not know me as before. lol. I still find it strange to see the white haired lady in the mirror each day an my work colleagues would have no idea that this is a new thing for me. My friends an family have not commented so maybe they are still a bit in shock too and wondering what is going on. A non friend, but old acquaintance that i had not seen for years made a rude comment about me having grey streaks, so it is a bit of retaliation at her comment too. I am going to blame in on PBC though. to be honest I think some of it is PBC as i have found that the dye would not remain in my hair for more than a couple of weeks. and it is too frustrating too continue, or was it too many years of hair dye? (I have only ever dyed it at home by myself). But sorry i am not brave enough yet to update my face book photo. I want to how a comparison here but i cannot upload photos.

Great choice you made. Congratulations! No one ever directly commented on my hair which started to go grey when I was forty - very much white at 71. I did hear some colourers refer to people who "let themselves go" but I didn't take offence, quite the opposite - letting go is a great thing. More important, you wouldn't eat poison knowingly so why would you drench the largest organ in your body, your skin (scalp) with it? What the skin absorbs the liver eventually must cope with. Go wild, go white, don't explain, start a trend and help your less-brave fellows to do the same!
