Hi

I have been on Ocaliva for 3 weeks and was wondering if anyone felt that it had caused them any low mood and depression. Really not liking this feeling at all.

Thanks

Awe... Sorry you are feeling like this. That's not good. I maybe getting put on it next month. Late next month. Has it helped your lab numbers though?

I had bloods done on Monday and yes it’s lowered my numbers. Going for a review at QE2 in the 12th November but I shall mention my issue to see if it is a side effect.

Good luck to u x

I’ve not noticed it. Did you see if that is possibility with OCA?

Jayne1863...I just read my drug info & depression isn’t mentioned. Maybe you should talk to your dr or nurse. Best to you🤗

I have been on OCA for 2 months & just been taken off due to severe itching and very low mood. I have never felt so bad since being diagnosed 2.5 yrs ago!

So I have to agree with you, I felt very low. Bloods were lowered by it though but its weighing up quality of life to length of it now for me.

Hope you get through this.

I've been on OCA for 1 yr now and cant say low mood was noticed after taking it. Figured it was just my own personal frustration and about whats happening at work was bringing me down. Wonder if the drug is compounding my angst somewhat.....Will ask Hep at next appt. Have you asked yours about it?

I was started on OCA at 5 mg in the morning. I very quickly got a very bad taste in my mouth starting from my GI system. It tasted like I had a dead rat in my mouth (sorry for the description). It was very distressing and because of that, it really affected my mood. I've had a similar reaction to a couple of other meds but not as bad. After discussion with my specialist, it was suggested to reduce it to every two days which is I can manage but still have ongoing taste in my mouth (it is relieve when off it). Antacids did nothing.

Every now and again I try to increase it but the same thing happens.

It can sometimes be hard for people to figure out if it's low mood secondary to fatigue or depression, or a combination of both. I'd also suggest talking to your doctor about this to help sort out what's going on.

Thanks for all your replies I’m going to see my gp tomorrow. I can only put it down to taking OCA as that’s the only thing that has changed and I’m usually such a happy go lucky person. I will see what my gp says then email my consultant and take it from there

Thanks x
