Has anyone had pale colored stools as a side effect of ursodoil?

I take ursodiol 500ml 2 x daily. If I stop taking medication a couple days stools turn to normal color.

I think you really need to talk to your Medic about this. Normally - I think - you would expect it to be the other way round … it may just be, that you are only seeing the effect of your system catching up with what you are doing to yourself.

My understanding is … that if you have been diagnosed with PBC and prescribed Urso, then you should be taking the Urso when - and in the correct dosage - as you were instructed to. I really don't think it's wise to experiment with stopping and starting like this. Go to your medic and explain it all and see what they say. Urso is the main treatment for PBC, and it can take a while for the body to adjust to it, so stopping and starting is not going to help, plus if you definitely have PBC, then you need the Urso (unless you are one of the few it doesn't work for, but you need to give it a fair trial and see what you new blood tests are like.

Please go back to your Dr/Consultant.

1811tc...I agree with GrittyReads & Ballymahon...you should not start & stop your meds without your drs approval. Your body needs that drug. Read your drug info about the possible side effects. Ask your dr about any concerns.

It is not a good thing to stop the treatment. I stopped for 18 months due to insurance issues & my PBC progressed very fast because of it. I was diagnosed at the end of stage 2, no treatment for 18 months. Now I'm at stage 4 with stage F4 cirrhosis, varicies, swollen liver & spleen. Among a ton of other issues. But my university heptologist said I progressed faster due to not having the Urso. So please take it from someone who knows now not to take this PBC as just a simple bump in the road, because it is something that we have to deal with & learn to listen to what our bodies are telling us.

Hi Shannon

It’s been awhile since you’ve been on here.

Are you going to the meeting in Indy in October? It’s about Oca I think.

What is the date for the meeting? I was unaware of the meeting. Anyways, I do go to Indy on the 29th of October to see my heptologist. It would be great if the meeting was around the same time. I'd love to attended it.

Yes, it has been awhile. I still pop in from time to time 😁

The meeting is October 2nd at 6:30 at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse on 86th Street. I haven’t looked into it much. I’m undecided about going.

My appointment was originally on the first but that is my youngest 10th birthday. I won't be able to go to the meeting. I'll get to one eventually

I doubt that I will go but if I do I will tell you about it.

Do you feel up to meeting for lunch sometime in the next couple of months?

Hello,

For me it's the other way around! If I miss a dose of urso stools go pale.
