Just wondered how many on here receive PIP for their autoimmune condition? I have never claimed it and seriously thinking about it.

Thanks.

I’d be interested to hear too, as I all so have osteoarthritis in both feet & ankles, I’ve reduced my work from full time to part time as a childminder, I feel now I’m forced to retire early because of my condition.

Hi Margaret. I am also considering the fact that I need to either work less or retire due to ill health. I am 53 years old though, but still wonder if it's too young to retire. My feet also painful and I have osteoarthritis in knees also osteopenia...autoimmune and beginning of osteoporosis, which I believe has been caused by long term use of steroids as much as if not more than the illness. It's a shame that there are no actual treatments to cure AIH/PBC. I also admit that my diet has not been good, but that's down to financial issues which I have sorted now. I am going to try a diet that is low in processed food and gluten free to see if it makes a difference. I also stopped the urso as it disagrees with me and I want to stop the mercaptopurin which I take instead of azathiropine for AIH...there's only so much toxic stuff the liver can deal with and if the liver is compromised anyway then what do we do for the best.

Alley.

Hi I’m 58 59 this yr, it worries me too about all the different meds as I take urso thyroxine statins, ramipril, I’ve stopped taking naproxen because it can cause kidney problems, I also take zapain for pain.😩😩

I know it’s incredibly hard to get. You have to prove that you are unable to do things like cook, clean , shop etc I was wondering about it but I don’t know how to prove these things. You also have to go for an interview and on a good day I’m fine but on other days I barely manage to do anything as I’m so tired. Let me know how you get on. I think ESA is easier but I don’t know anything about it yet

ESA is not easy to get you need sick notes on a regular basis and you have to have an intervierview as well and sometimes a medical...it now comes under the umbrella of universal credit....I am going to get a sick note on monday as I get a little bit of universal credit perhaps doctor will give me a sick note for the 28 weeks that I am waiting for my consultant appointment.

I will let you know what happens when I ask doctor for sick note.

Take care x

Hi Alley27 i have been getting disability now for some years . I first applied to get it as i was really bad with my disc degenerative disease at the time and i was refused it. Then when i got my pbc my condition and the symptoms i suffered with stopped me from working i was fallen asleep for hrs and my family could not wake me my bones and joints are extremely sore . so when i reapplied they gave me disability . Now i am just about to go for my PIP assessment on March the 15th , so i will let you know the outcome . They will probably stop it and i will have to appeal it as they are trying to stop people getting PIP . i will let you know the outcome .

kind regards shaz
