I have just been diagnoed with cirrhosis and she said my fibroscan result was 38. I was in total shock that I had cirrhosis as my GP said I was being referred for a "check up". I have lots of questions but the consultant is away now for Christmas and New Year but I wondered if anyone could give me any information /advice about my result being 38 - sure what this means and how much my liver is affected? Thanks xxx

Hi Thank you for your reply. I saw the consultant on Tuesday this week, my first appointment so the first thing is she going to organise an upper endoscopy to check for varices in the oesophagus. They took lots more bloods so just waiting for the next plan
I had a scan with a score of 21. I was told that I had cirrhosis. My hepatologist did not think that I had cirrhosis so he ordered a liver biopsy. The biopsy revealed that I have Fibrosis stage 2. Try not to worry. The liver biopsy with several different samples is the only way to provide the real answers.
