How many people have other autoimmune disorders? I have Hashimoto and pbc. I recently suffered a miscarriage and wondering if it may be due to hughs syndrome or Antiphospholipid Antibodies. I know the incident of autoimmune diseases increases and I was wondering if anyone has Hugh’s syndrome too?
Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure I have slight reynauds. Few fingers turn white when exposed to cold in winter, even in the meat or frozen section at grocery store. Weird though, the grocery store thing doesn’t happen in the summer.
Mine turns blueish/purple in cold or hot. Even when I wash my hands. Elbows look dirty all the time. It's the strangest thing and it is only my pointer and middle fingers, both hands.
donna01...let me rephrase my color, lol! If I’m outside in the cold my pinkie, index & sometimes my middle turn white. But sometimes it’s the bluish purple you speak of. As soon as I warm them up they’re fine. So far mine haven’t done this in the heat.
I have Sjogrens overlap Lupus and PBC; I was told it’s common to get more than one autoimmune disease after being diagnosed with your first one and sometimes the doctors won’t pick up a new one because the symptoms mimic each other like PBC and Sjogrens very similar symptoms.
Hi I have t been officially diagnosed with PBC. My blood work results were high AST/ALT, high AMA M2, high GGT, neg ANA , neg smooth muscle Antibody, scans show no biliary blockages so my pc suspects PBC. I see the specialist in two weeks. I say all that to say, even tho PBS diagnosis is given, I have Hughs syndrome, MTHFR, raynauds, fibromyalgia and a few other auto immune issues. I had a still birth at 9 months and two miscarriages due to the hughs syndrome. Now I know the Hughes Syndrom is actually related to the MTHFR. My sis in law had two miscarriages and she doesn’t have Hughes but something else similar and she also has the MTHFR mutation.
I took heperine shots with my daughter after being diagnosed and had a healthy ‘normal’ pregnancy.
I’m so sorry for your losses. That is so sad losing a baby at 9 months. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard that is.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. How did you find out you had Hughs? I’m considering going to the doctors and asking to be tested but not sure how it’s tested.
How does Hugh’s effect a pregnancy? I haven’t found much information on the web; information that a laywoman can understand.
Yeah, it was hard. It wasn’t until after the second miscarriage that my OB called me at home and told me she knew what was wrong and had me come in for tests. Google antiphospholipid syndrom, I was told it’s the same thing. It is basically ‘sticky blood’ and causes blood clotting that leads to miscarriage/stillbirths.
My sis in law has a different issue where the ambilical cord detaches at a certain point around 12-20 weeks. It’s very similar and it’s related to the MTHFR gene. Her and her sisters have to take large doses of folate and avoid folic acid like the plague to keep from having a miscarriage.
I also have to take methylated b vitamins and avoid folic acid but mostly I had to keep my blood thin. She did not have to do that.
